Like the Old Chinese Wise Guy who said ” 知己知彼,百戰百勝. ”

You have to know where your enemy come from, how they come, what is favorable to them and what is unfavorable to them, understand your enemy, their strength and their weakness, then hundred battles you fight with them, you will win hundred battles.

There are cancer cells produce everyday in everybody, just like in any country in the world there are petty thieves and petty crimes happen everyday, and these are like some outlaws living next to the neighborhood who do some petty crimes, but how these petty thieves grown into notorious rebellions to a extend capable of overturn the whole central governing system, it take them many years to become established, and there are many factors contributing to their progression.

Everyday there are cell die and there are new cell regenerate in our body. In the process of disintegrating and reassembling of our DNA and RNA of our cell regeneration, very often, our bodies make mistakes (since none of us are perfect). These result in some cells with flaws being produced, now and then; and these happen more rampant when we aged, according to some studies I read somewhere, base on approximately 500000 cells regeneration in our body everyday ( old cells die, new cells grow), they say when we are 20 years old, our body roughly more 100-1000 mistakes each day, by the time we are 40 years old, our body makes more than 4000 mistakes everyday. That is the reason why, those who are above 40 years of age, their cancer risks are higher.

These less-than-perfect cells will initially identify themselves by highlighting themselves to the natural killer cells, which acts as the internal security system for extermination. (our first line of defense in the immune system, which act as the QC in quality control department).

However during certain instances, where the person’s immune system is not working at optimum level at that moment, reasons could be due to a stressful day, bad diets, over indulges, or simply not properly rested, when the vitality of the natural killer cells is low, then the tired QC officers might overlook the presence of these defective cells and let them slip away.

These defective cells or cells with flaws, we call them ab-normal cells will first hibernate in the body like illegal immigrants avoiding the surveillance of the internal security system. They will try to survive by slowing establishing its networks of abnormal blood vessels to tap into the healthy blood vessel for nourishments; it is like some illegal immigrant stealing power supply, or telephone line service and water supply by erecting illegal piping to tap into the main supply lines for convenience and survival. These abnormal crab legs-like blood vessels produced by these cells give cancer its name, which means crab in Latin.

These blood vessels are weak and easily rapture when under attack by our surveillance immune cells, which is why we must be cautious and do not over look any abnormal bleeding.

Cancer can develop from a single ab-normal cell slowly dividing into two then four then eight, then….., eventually when it grows to a size of 1cmx1cm, that is when its network of blood vessels is established, is now strong enough to post a treat to the adjoining healthy cell by encroaching and turning them into their food. Imagining like what we see in alien movie, where these aliens turning human into their food.

It is also by now, that the cancer is big enough can be detected by the scanning equipments.

The usual procedures of conventional medical treaments is either cut to remove or burn to kill the localized affected parts ( this is only possible if the cancer cells are quarantined and enveloped by the body immune system into a lump or tumor growth) follow by poisoning to prevent any left out or if any escapes is suspected.

The scenario now is whether the good guys or the bad guys die first. The side whch can endure the harsh and invasive treatments to win the battle, the side which die faster will lose.

In order to increase the chances of winnning, it is important we know how to help and support the normal healthy cells by feeding them the RIGHT FOODS to enhance their ability to protect themselves and still able to function properly even under the harsh treatments. It is like during the bomb raid, the commoners  must  find  shelter.

Recently there are quite a number of people I know die of cancer. One of these was a very sad case when the decease is such a young soul, plenty yet to accomplish, to fulfill. Cancer has robbed a lot of families of their loved one and the country a lot of valuable human resources.

In Malaysia statistic, I remember the last published rate of cancer is 1 out of 4 for Chinese, 1 out of 5 for Malay and for India, who are luckier is 1 out of 7. The rate seems alarming high.

Cancer to many people sound like doom day, and the risk of getting cancer seem high, but cancers actually take many years to form, which means we have plenty of time to prevent them from becoming life threatening.

There have been a lot of public education and information on the importance of early detection for prevention of cancers. That creates a lot of needs for medical check up and diagnostic tests. I had been “cheated” once by a marketing company to attend their talk using the name of health awareness campaign sponsor by the health ministry, which turned out to be a marketing scheme to sell medical check up packages for the private hospital. Due to the rising cost of medical bills for diagnostic tests, check up, and treatments, there are also a lot packages offer by the insurance companies in the market to take care of this.

A lot of my friends who will check into porsh private hospital for 3 days 2 night medical check up packages fully covered by their insurance policies now and then, and they feel that they have done well enough to preserve their health. having a clean bill of medical conditions, give them the peace of mind. (I tell you, it is not cheap to have this sort of coverage).

However, there are quite a number of cancer patients told me that , they did not comprehend why they are diagnosed to have cancer only months after their regular check up clearing them of any medical conditions. All I can say is they miss the point, that medical check up is not to prevent cancer, it is to detect cancers, and all sophisticated equipment also has its limitation in picking up cancerous growth of certain size. Which means, if cancerous cells are not detected does not means they are not there, and when they are detected, it means THEY ARE ALREADY ESTABLISHED.

I am not saying early detection is not beneficial, I am saying we should be more pro active in prevention, i.e. PREVENT IT EVEN BEFORE IT IS FORM 上工医未病. But then How?
